Dance Lessons

Our all-ages, all-abilities classes are subsidized and include private and group lessons for social, competitive and showcase level dancing. Whether you’re interested in learning and performing a specific choreography, improving your social dance skills for clubs, parties, and weddings, understanding how to connect to your partner and to the music in a fun and social atmosphere, or learning ballroom and Latin dance technique for performance and competition, Wheel Dance has a class to suit your goals.

Every *body* can dance!

If you can move your manual or power wheelchair in a controlled way, then you can dance!

Wheel Dance classes are led by various professionals including a movement therapist, a championship level Ballroom and Latin dance instructor, a professional choreographer, a physiotherapist, and others. Each instructor brings unique skills and experience, encouraging our dancers to learn new athletic and artistic skills, and develop their potential. From improvisation, range of motion exercises, interactive warm-ups, techniques for improving body awareness and movement vocabulary, freestyle dancing, basic and advanced ballroom and Latin dance techniques, or structured choreographies—the goal is to engage, be active and have fun!

As a Social Activity

Wheelchair partner dancing enables new friendships and promotes understanding and communication between people with and without disabilities. Wheelchair dancers and their standing partners have formed unique, long-term connections and friendships on and off the dance floor, creating a community of caring, warmth, encouragement, support, and inclusivity.
